On the general contractor’s schedule

The problem

Two office fit-outs to cable on the general contractor’s schedule, before the ceilings closed, with very different requirements.

The video game studio

A floor with open areas, meeting rooms and four production studios. 629 plenum cables: 586 Cat6 jacks for workstations, 16 Cat6A cables for the studios, 14 for Wi-Fi and 13 for security, plus a fusion-spliced OM5 fibre backbone. 569 links tested and documented.

The financial group

Two entities sharing a floor of a downtown tower. About 57,000 feet of shielded Cat6A cable, plus single-mode (OS2) and multimode (OM4) fibre between floors. A fibre specification change mid-project was priced, approved and completed without extending the contract.

The certification

Every link was certified on a Fluke DSX-8000: 356 links, including 332 copper and 24 fibre strands, all passing. The client receives the full report, link by link.

The result

Two floors where the network simply works: every port numbered, every link documented, ready for 10 gigabit and PoE.
